If there’s any indicator for the length of Paul Pope’s friendship with the Allreds, it’s in how his style has developed between the years his guest work appeared Allred’s Madman. Madman is a great book to understand how much style is not a concrete thing for comics, but something that develops with the artist; this is one of the many reasons that Mike and Laura Allred are such a charming comics duo. The last picture in the photoset is Allred covering Pope in an issue of Atomic Comics that mindwalks through the history of comic art.
